The spiritual homeland of the Chardonnay & Syrah grape is France. What makes these grapes so exciting is that they have both been planted all over the world to great success. They both express themselves differently depending on the climate, soil and regional style, though certain characteristics remain the same.
For those of you who don't drink Chardonnay- challenge you to come and expand your horizons! Chardonnay doesn't just naturally taste like a bad batch of beurre blanc. It's actually one of the most neutral grapes in the world. This neutrality allows Chardonnay to be heavily influenced by where it is grown, picking up flavors and characteristics from its soil and climate (that terroir, babyyy).
For those of you who want to understand the difference between Syrah & Shiraz or an absolutely fabulous glass of Chardonnay versus Chablis - come to wine club this month and let's set the record straight! Both grapes deserve your love and applause!
